I just installed the software. What now?
Create Your Database
Start the program from Windows Start menu:

Simply Contacts will display its first screen with two options. Select option 1: New Users: Create a new data file.

The program will then prompt you for the file name:

Default folder for the data file is C:\Program Files\Simply Contacts Database\Database, but you can change it to any other location, including network drive. Please note that you must have permissions to write files to that location.
Type in a new file name. If you type in or select an existing file, the system will ovwerwrite it.
Note. We recommend that you create a data file in a folder where you can easily find it and back it up - see below.
Simply Contacts will then prompt you for the company name which will be displayed in the title and print-outs you generate directly out of the program. If you don't specify company name, it will use default titles and headings.
After that, the system will prepare a data file and display the Welcome screen, outlining where you may wish to go next:

Note. The file name and path are shown in the window title, underscored by the red line on this screenshot.
Read the text and press Close this window. You can start entering the data now. But before that:
Arrange Regular Database Backup
You don't want to lose your database, so you need to backup your data file regularly. The name of the data file is shown in the program's window title (see the screenshot above). Copy it to a CD or to another computer, back it up to tape using utilties such as Backup Exec, but make sure this is done regularly.
We also recommend that you make a backup copy of the installation program you downloaded or received on disk.
Use Program's Help
Simply Contacts comes with Online Manual, context help and tips. Online Manual is available from the Top Menu -> Help -> Online Manual. On the switchboard, you can view help on specific functions by pressing the "?" button located next to the function description.

On other screens, additional types of help are available:
- At the bottom of a screen, there could be instructions (1) on how to operate this screen.
- When you place a cursor in a field, you can get Context tips (2) on that field by pressing F1 or selecting Context Tips from the top menu (3).
- Some screens include the Help button (4).
