How to un-install add-ons?
"I have originally downloaded a configuration with several add-ons which I no longer need. However, when I open my database, these add-ons are still there, even though I have re-loaded the program without them. How can I un-install these modules?"
Please follow these steps:
- Re-install the software
- Create a blank data file
- Copy the data into the new data file
Re-install the Software
- Make a backup copy of your existing data file.
- De-install the existing version: in Windows, go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Simply Contacts Database and press Remove:

- Download and install the program in your required configuration.
Create a Blank Data File
Start the program and select function: New Users: Create a New Data file.

If you have multiple departments displayed on the switchboard, go to Setup Department and use function Create a new data file and attach to it.

The system will then prompt you for the file name. Please enter the name of a new file. If you select an existing file, it will be overwritten.
Copy the Data into the New Data File
- Go to Data Exchange Department and select function Load from another Simply Contacts data file.

- When prompted, select your old data file created with the previous installation. The program may prompt:

- Select OK. The program will then analyze the structure of the old database and will prompt if you wish to copy the extra fields you created in the old database:

- Reply Yes. The program will then copy the fields and re-open the database.
- To copy the actual data, repeat steps 1-4 in this section; however when you reach the prompt at step 4, reply No. The program will proceed to copy the data and generate a message like this:

If you had any custom views or reports you will receive a warning similar to the one above. You will need to check manually if these reports work and either delete or correct them.
